With Christmas and New Year’s Eve right around the corner, now is the perfect time to get all dolled up. Below are two easy ways you can instantly add glamour to your look.
Take a cue from Christina Aguilera in Burlesque and make your eyes sparkle with a touch of glitter this holiday. Start with a cream eyeshadow or a grease paint as a base so the glitter has something to stick onto. Next, press (don’t rub!) the glitter directly onto your eyelid with your finger or a small eyeshadow brush. Clean up any fallouts with a fan brush or scotch tape and finish with eyeliner and fake eyelashes. Alternatively, you can add a dash of glitter along with your lashline by lining your eyes with a glitter pencil or liquid eyeliner like MAC Glitter Liner.
Red is undeniably the color for the holidays. To wow them with the hottest red lips, try this trick from Madonna’s makeup artist, Gina Brooke: “Start with a neutral liner first. Don’t just fill in the lines. Use the liner over the entire lips to create a base for your lipstick. Using a lip brush, apply the lipstick from the outer-corner to the inner corner, and repeat from the other side.”
Pair the look with gilded eyes for the day or a sultry smoky eye for night. Too color-shy for red lipstick? Try a gloss like MAC Russian Red Lipglass or go with a lip stain like Benetint. -Phyllis Li
