LUCKY magazine, is one of my favorite fashion reads so it was such a pleasure to interview Lucky’s fashion director, Anna Keane. Anna has been with Lucky since it’s launch in 2000. She has vast experience in the fashion publishing world and exceptional taste. We wanted to get the scoop on everything from who her favorite fashion designer is to how to succeed in the fashion world. Read on! (P.S. HM: Describe your style in one word.
AK: Simple
HM: Who is your favorite fashion designer?’
AK: My allegiances are constantly in flux! I wear a lot of basics from Stella McCartney and Balenciaga, but this season I obsessed over Proenza and Dries. And lately, I can’t stop thinking about Jonathan Saunders’ Spring collection – it was gorgeous.
HM: What is your dream travel destination?
AK: Vietnam. I can’t stop watching this show on the Cooking Channel called Luke Nguyen’s Vietnam. I’m not sure I would have the stamina right now for a culinary tour of any country, but the idea of it is really inspiring.
HM: What would you pack if you could only bring one item?
AK: An IPad.
HM: What makes you feel glamorous?
AK: Sitting at a Chanel show in Paris and watching Karl Lagerfeld come out at the end. It makes me feel glamorous and lucky.
HM: What is your best-kept beauty secret?
AK: Giorgio Armani sheer lipstick which can also be used as cheek color.
HM: What advice would you give to those who are aspiring to make it big
in the fashion industry?
AK: Corny but true: Manners will take you a long way. It is the only way to keep sane and professional when you find yourself in a crazy situation. And believe me in your career you will find yourself in many a crazy situation.
HM: Who has the best tweets?
AK: Honestly? Conan O’Brien. Good for a laugh-out-loud moment every time.
HM: What is your favorite online shopping destination?
AK: Etsy. I can get lost in hours of search on Etsy! I liken it to driving by a yard sale sign in the summer – with every new search I’m hypnotized by arrows beckoning me to follow “this way.”
HM: What are your three fashion must-haves?
AK: An enthusiastic shopper like me can rationalize everything into a must have. That being said, I currently MUST HAVE: a Chloe sheer skirt, an Isabel Marant ruched mini dress, and something bright red – perhaps a Derek Lam bag or even a new lipstick.
