I first came across Saira Mohan when I saw her on the cover of Newsweek with the caption “The Perfect Face”. I couldn’t agree more with Newsweek. Saira Mohan possess the kind of beauty that is unsurpassed both inside and out. She is extremely spiritual and has an amazingly positive outlook on life. As a supermodel, Saira has graced the covers of iconic magazines including Town & Country (one of my faves), Elle, Cosmopolitan and L’Officiel. We wanted to get the insider’s tips on everything from who her favorite designer is to what her secret to feeling glamourous is! Read on.
HM: Describe your style in one word.
SM: Comfortable.
HM: Who is you favorite fashion designer?
SM: That’s tricky, since the industry is saturated with choice. I generally do my shopping online at gilt.com or ruelala.com and those sites rotate designers daily, so I get the variety I am looking for. A few of my all time favorites are, Ralph Lauren, Catherine Malandrino, Luca Luca, Valentino, and anything sold at Calypso.
HM: What is your dream travel destination?
SM: My dream destination is always changing. Once I get there, I dream up a new place. Currently my dream travel destination is to visit Vietnam – oh and the great wall of China since my kid watches The Karate Kid movie every weekend.
HM: What makes you feel glamorous?
SM: I’ve never felt more glamorous than after a climatic romp with my hubby; the feeling I have afterwards is the most glamorous feeling ever!
HM: What is your best-kept beauty secret?
SM: Great sex as often as possible, lots of green tea and/or sparkling water with lemon, and a great practice of ashtanga yoga.
HM: What advice would you give to those who are aspiring to make it big in the fashion industry?
SM: The best advice I can give is not to take the fashion business too seriously. It’s a fun creative industry that bases success on physical attributes. I would advise any young girl who has the height and measurements necessary, to go to an open call at the most reputable agency, like Ford Models, and have them give you proper feedback about what is possible.
HM: Who has the best tweets?
SM: The people living in any country that doesn’t respect freedom of speech, or women’s rights.
HM: What is your favorite online shopping destination?
SM: Gilt.com, Ruelala.com, Onekingslane.com.
HM: What are your three fashion must-haves?
SM: My three fashion must haves: A great pair of comfortable, nice fitting jeans. Great handbag and a pair of comfortable, but chic-looking shoes.
